As schools enter their final weeks of the 2012 school year, so too, does the regional phases of the Coca-Cola Schools T20 Competition. St Dunstans College of the Easterns region, continued their winning ways when they beat Hulwazi High School by 10 wickets.

Hulwazi batted first and were dismissed for 63 runs, with K Thompson taking two wickets for 17. Matthew Corin once again put his hand up in the St Dunstans reply, scoring an unbeaten 33 runs to lead his side to victory.

In the same region, Springs Boys High School produced a convincing 41-run victory over Kwa-Thema High School, while Höerskool Hans Moore held their nerve to complete a fine three-run victory over Höerskool Brandwag.

In the Free State, Höerskool Hentie Cilliers beat Welkom High School by 39 runs. Hentie Cilliers batted first and set a target of 101 for Welkom to win, thanks to W Beaukman's 40. Welkom's reply was not sufficient and they were bowled out for 61 runs with K Lucas and D van Wyk taking two wickets each.

It was a very close match for HTS Welkom and Höerskool Henneman. K van Zyl and E van Heerden both scored 41 runs to get Welkom to 135/5 at the end of their innings. K Pretorius fought valiantly for his side, scoring 41 runs but could do nothing about the wickets that fell all around him thanks, in part, to L Lesholi who took three for 26. Welkom won by a very narrow two runs.

In the Northerns region, T le Roux and R Lancaster scored 60 and 54 respectively to lead Montana High School to 164/4 in their match against Höerskool Oosmoot. Oosmoot's J de Beer was the only batsman to reach a half-century in reply, scoring 54 before he was dismissed. It was not enough to save the day, however, as Montana won by 49 runs.

Höerskool Swartkop beat Tuks Sport High School by 35 runs while Cornwall Hill College beat Garsfontein High School by four wickets.

In the North West, Höerskool Lichtenburg beat Schweizer Reneke by 19 runs while in the South Western Districts, Point High School beat Albertina High School by 131 runs.

In the Point/Albertina match, Pierre Swannepoel and Durant Lucas scored 82 and 54 respectively to put 182/2 on the board when they batted first. Albertina crumbled under the pressure bowling of Jayvier Denhing, who took a remarkable four wickets for three. He received good support from Louis Biziaco who took 3/21 and Dane Henegan who returned with 2/17.

The quality of cricket played has intensified with regional semi-finals and finals taking place in the first term of the 2013 year. Teams will make use of this last week of matches to ensure that they are in a good position going into the new year.
