HOST province Boland made an excellent start to the national under-13 cricket week at Paarl when they beat Eastern Province by six runs on the first innings.

Tight finishes were a feature of the first day with Griquas just failing to hold out for a draw against Easterns and Border having their last pair at the crease when time was called against KwaZulu-Natal.
