The bizhub Highveld Lions won the toss and chose to bowl first in the Momentum One-Day Cup final against the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Friday.

However, they were dealt a major blow with news that fast bowler Chris Morris was ruled out due to injury.

They did, though, have a like-for-like replacement in Hardus Viljoen, one of the competition’s star bowlers so far, who missed out on the last few games in the round robin phase of the competition because of an injury of his own.

There was also place in the bizhub Highveld Lions’ line-up for Proteas pair Alviro Petersen and Imran Tahir - Temba Bavuma and Garnett Kruger making way from their last named XI.

The Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras were also without one of their key men from their campaign thus far after veteran all-rounder Justin Kemp failed a late fitness test on a hamstring injury.

His replacement was Proteas seamer Vernon Philander, completing an all-pace test attack, in what was the only change following the play-off win against the Nashua Titans last Sunday.

The hosts, the early form team of the One-Day Cup, are searching for their seventh title since the inception of one-day cricket in South Africa, while the visitors, who won six out of seven games to get to the final, will be hoping to win the title for the eighth time in their history.

The teams:

bizhub Higveld Lions: Stephen Cook (capt), Alviro Petersen Gulam Bodi, Quinton de Kock (wkt), Neil McKenzie, Jean Symes, Zander de Bruyn, Aaron Phangiso, Hardus Viljoen Pumelela Matshikwe, Imran Tahir.

Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras: Richard Levi, Andrew Puttick, Stiaan van Zyl, Dane Vilas (wkt), Yaseen Vallie, Justin Ontong (capt), Robin Peterson, Rory Kleinveldt, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Johann Louw end
