Sinalo Jafta will lead the South Africa under-19 girls in a once-off match against the South Western Districts women. This match will be the culmination of the 2012 Cricket South Africa (CSA) Girls U19 Week.
The week, which took place in Oudtshoorn this year, saw the top young talent in South Africa battle it out for SA U19 honours. It was also a golden opportunity to show both scouts and selectors their potential for a place in provincial squads, the SA Women's Emerging squad and ultimately, the senior Proteas Women's team.
Robyn Searle ended her Week on top of the best batters log, with 249 runs at an average of 41.50 and a high score of an outstanding 132 not out.
Boland finished on top of the log thanks to Stephanie Botha's contribution with both bat and ball. Border came second, largely due to Eloise Webb, who took a total of 19 wickets for 68 runs and Jafta's exceptional work behind the stumps.
Tournament director, Sandy Flannagan is very happy with the result of the Week as well as the quality of cricket played. She said: "This week has been remarkably good, the quality of cricket played was much higher than in recent years and I am happy to report that the gap between the provinces has closed extraordinarily. I want to congratulate the teams that did extremely well as well as everyone involved for ensuring that the fitness levels of the teams were higher than ever before."
The 50 over match starts at 9:00 AM at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn on Thursday.
