THERE was a 52-minute delay this evening during the 2nd KFC T20 International between the Blue Label Telecoms Proteas and the Black Caps at Buffalo Park in East London.

This was due to the main circuit breaker malfunctioning that caused floodlight failure to one of the pylons.

In terms of playing time, only 12 minutes were lost and the match officials reduced the match to 19 overs per side.

“Obviously, we are disappointed by the floodlight situation, but I must commend the electrical team for rescuing the situation and ensuring that we had the resumption of the match,” said Themba Lupuwana, CEO of Border Cricket.

“I also want to thank the East London cricket fans for their support. We had a sold out match and the fans stayed waiting patiently for the floodlights to come back on.”

The match referee has requested a detailed report on the incident which the electrician on duty will provide after the match.
