The Sunfoil Dolphins cruised to a seven-wicket victory over the Chevrolet Knights thanks to an impressive batting display by Greg Oldfield (89*) and Prenelan Subrayen (71*) on day three of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Franchise Colts Week in Stellenbosch on Saturday.
They joined each other at the crease with the score on 88/3 and saw their side home in the 48th over. They shared an unbeaten partnership of 157 runs over the fourth wicket which is the biggest partnership yet at this year's tournament.
The Knights' Andries Gous continued his excellent form with the bat. He scored 60 runs against Dolphins to bring his total runs to 240 for the tournament at an average of 80 runs an innings. Hanco Olivier (65) also weighed in with a patient half-century. Oldfield sent four batsmen back to the change room for 53 runs.
The bizhub Highveld Lions continued on their winning ways when they defeated the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras by four wickets at Distell Cricket Ground.
The Cape Cobras reached 213/9 in their allotted 50 overs thanks to valuable contributions by Clyde Fortuin (64) and Hanno Kotze (30). Kagiso Rabada continued his good form with both bat and ball. He was the pick of the Lions bowlers, dismissing two Cobras batsmen for 31 runs. He also struck an unbeaten 32 runs from 28 deliveries. His innings included four fours and a six. He and Jayden Broodryk (37*) got the Lions over the target. They shared an unbeaten 65-run partnership for the seventh wicket.
The biggest batting contribution for the Lions however, came from Yaseen Valli (65) who faced 100 deliveries and kept their innings together.
Corbin Bosch, son of former Proteas player, Tertius Bosch, starred with an all-round performance for the Nashua Titans to help them defeat the Chevrolet Warriors by 104 runs.
Bosch scored 82 runs from 70 deliveries, which included ten boundaries of which two were maximums. He and Vincent Moore (44*) shared a 107-run partnership over the eighth wicket from only 82 deliveries. Lerato Kgoatle (76) also made a major contribution with the bat for the Titans.
Bosch then continued his onslaught by grabbing three wickets for 28 runs as the Warriors stumbled to 189/9 in their overs. Solomzi Nqweni (64*) was the only Warriors batsman who could stem the Titan-tide with the bat in hand.
