Sunette Loubser and Dané van Niekerk bowled and batted the South Africa women to their second One Day International (ODI) win in a row when they took on the West Indies in Dominica on Wednesday. They beat their hosts by four wickets and now lead the five-match series 2-0.

Loubser lead the bowling attack, taking four wickets for 11 runs in just eight overs to restrict the opposition to 128 runs. Her spell included three maidens to give her the thoroughly deserved player of the match award.

The hosts won the toss and chose to bat first. They lost their wickets in regular clusters thanks to Loubser, Chloe Tryon and van Niekerk, who contributed vital figures of 2/18 and 2/20 respectively. They were skittled out with 10 balls to spare.

In reply, South Africa were two wickets down without scoring in the first five overs. The openers, Shandré Fritz and Trisha Chetty were trapped lbw by Shanel Daley and Stefanie Taylor respectively to put South Africa on the back foot.

The visitors did well to get their equilibrium back, thanks to captain, Mignon du Preez (27) and Marizanne Kapp (22), but it was the 39-run, seven wicket partnership between van Niekerk (33*) and Yolandi Potgieter (16*) that saw their team through.

South Africa will look to take their growing momentum into the third ODI on 12 January at Windsor Park Stadium where they hope to secure the series win.
