Internationally renowned artist, DJ Earworm, will light up the 2010 Airtel Champions League Twenty20, (CLT20) after being invited to create a mashup of Enrique Iglesias’s latest hit “I Like It”, the theme song for the Twenty20 showpiece event, which takes place in South Africa, from 10-26 September 2010.

He will perform the mash up live at the opening CLT20 game between Mumbai Indians and Highveld Lions at Wanderers Stadium, on September 10, and will also make a guest appearance at the official CLT20 opening concert, Enrique Live, on September 9, at Emmarentia Botanic Gardens, giving an entirely new audience an opportunity to experience his musical creations.

Widely known for his annual twenty-five song mashup video “United State of Pop”, DJ Earworm has been working as a San Francisco-based producer and performer since 2003. He first landed on the music scene after being hired by MTV as their resident DJ during the 2005 MTV Music Video Awards in South Beach; performing at concerts, parties and VIP events throughout the weekend.

His successes have caught the attention of the music industry and he has been hired to produce custom mashup videos for artists as diverse as Lady Gaga, Annie Lennox, Sean Kingston and Maroon 5 among others. He’s also been sought out to create music and videos for Film, Television Radio & Internet, and is frequently invited to speak as an authority on the subject of mashups and digital media.

CLT20 governing council member, Dean Kino, said: “Music is playing a bigger part in cricket, especially since the introduction of twenty20 cricket. We are keen to explore many new avenues to entertain the fans, and we are delighted to be working with artists of this caliber.”

Speaking about his forthcoming trip to South Africa, DJ Earworm said: “I am really excited about this gig because it offers something different. I enjoyed creating this mashup, and I look forward to sharing this with cricket fans in South Africa.”

Enrique Live, at Emmarentia Botanic Gardens, on September 9, which inaugurates the 2010 Airtel CLT20, promises to be a must-see event. Spanish sensation, Enrique Iglesias, headlines the concert, globetrotting Cape-Town-based twin brothers, Locnville, are the support act, and DJ Earworm completes the lineup.
