The Nashua Titans clawed their way back into their Sunfoil Series match against the bizhub Highveld Lions at Bidvest Wanderers in the second session of the opening day.  The Titans claimed three wicket to slow the advance after Dominic Hendricks and Temba Bavuma had been involved in a rollicking partnership before lunch.  At tea the hosts had reached 210 for the loss of four wickets.

Stephen Cook was an early casualty to Ethy Mbhalati, playing his 100th First Class match, before Hendricks and Bavuma got busy.  By lunch their partnership was worth 112 and both reached half-centuries in the final over of the opening session. Their strokeplay became a bit more tentative after the break, with both players playing some dangerous shots.  Rowan Richards made the first breakthrough, tempting Bavuma to chase a full delivery.  The diminutive batsman scored 62 off 73 balls, including seven fours.  The partnership had produced 129 runs in 29 overs.

Six overs later Hendricks was gone as well, being trapped in front attempting to sweep Roelof van der Merwe.  His 74 came off 135 balls and included ten boundaries.  Neil McKenzie spent an hour at the crease without reaching his normal fluency, falling to a catch by a leaping van der Merwe in the slips.  Zander de Bruyn and Thami Tsolekile added 37 to see the Lions through to the tea break without further loss.

Mbhalati still has the most impressive figures, while David Wiese, Richards and van der Mere have also got their names into the wicket column.

Bonus points to date: Lions 2.2, Titans 1
