Proteas batsman Hashim Amla has been ruled out of the second Momentum ODI against New Zealand at the De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley on Tuesday. Amla sustained a strain to his right quad muscle during practice on Monday afternoon, which flared up overnight.
Proteas Team Manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee said: “Hashim sustained the strain in his right quad during warm-ups yesterday afternoon but continued training without much hindrance. He woke up this morning with a severely stiff quad muscle and has been withdrawn from the playing XI. We will only be able to make a call on his availability for the final game after more assessment in the next few days.”
