CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) on Tuesday launched the RAM SLAM T20 CHALLENGE in association with its latest major sponsors, RAM Hand-to-Hand Couriers.
“RAM has been a generous supplier of ours for many years and it is a pleasure to welcome them into our stable of major sponsors,” commented CSA Acting CEO Jacques Faul.
“This is one of our most lucrative domestic franchise properties and we look forward to our association with RAM over the next three years.
“It is far and away the most popular of our domestic competitions with our fans and, apart from the prestige of winning the RAM SLAM, it is the gateway for our franchises to qualify for the lucrative Champions League tournament in which our franchises have always had a very proud record.
“The launch of the RAM SLAM also provides us with the perfect opportunity to innovate and our fans can look forward to some exciting new concepts.”
Some of these innovative ideas are as follows:
- The RAM Glam Cam: At each match day come to the match dressed up wearing a touch of red in any glamorous fun superhero like outfit and be spotted by the Ram Glam crew and you could win an IPOD on the spot.
- The RAM SLAM Hand: The first 200 patrons through the gate at each match day will receive a Ram Slam Giant Mint.
- Catch any 6 with the RAM SLAM Hand and you would automatically win R1000.00
There will be other developments around SuperSport’s TV production as well as achievement awards such as the RAM SLAM (the longest six of the day) and the RAM Deliverer of the Day.
For the first time in SuperSport’s broadcast history, there will also be vernacular commentary. Each televised Ram Slam match will also have isiXhosa commentators alongside English and Afrikaans.
David Lazarus, RAM Hand to Hand Couriers, Joint Managing Director said, “We are excited to be able to make a real difference to the cricket loving people of our country. In addition, RAM Hand to Hand Couriers is a proudly South African company and through the CSA development fund we hope to change the lives of those less fortunate and with a bit of luck unearth the next Makhaya Ntini. We are excited to be the sponsor of the Ram Slam and hope that South Africa will come and have some fun with us.”
The RAM SLAM starts on Friday, 15 February with the Sunfoil Dolphins playing the defending champions, the Nashua Titans in a day/night fixture at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead.
The first round is completed on Sunday, 17 February when there are two day fixtures: the bizhub Highveld Lions play the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras at Senwes Park and the Chevolet Knights take on the Chevrolet Warriors at the De Beers Diamond Oval.
