SOUTH AFRICAN cricket has reached a new level of popularity with ticket sales over the past seven months going past the one million mark for the first time ever.
This includes Proteas’ and franchise matches as well as the Champions League T20 which Cricket South Africa (CSA) hosted for the second time at the start of the 2012-13 season.
In all, a total of 1 093 464 tickets have been processed to date.
“It is very good news to see how the operations of Cricket South Africa continue to grow and grow,” commented CSA Acting CEO Naasei Appiah. “Our fans are the lifeblood of our game and I would like to thank them for their loyal support. This is tangible evidence that we are on the right path in making cricket a truly national sport accessible to all.
“It is also a tribute to our various Proteas squads that continue to set standards of excellence of which we can all be extremely proud.”
