The Franchise Colts claimed their second victory in one day after beating a lackluster SA USSA team by five wickets on Day Two of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Future Cup at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley on Friday.
Ashley Fernandez (26) returned the highest runs after USSA were asked to bat first by the Colts. They set a below par total of 108/7 at the end of their innings with Michael Pote and Esmund van Wyk adding the second highest runs of 14 each. Johannes Diseko was the leading taker with three for 22.
Ernest Kemm did well up front to score 30 after his opening partner, Zakir Kathrada was bowled by Sean Nowak for 11. Grant Edmeades missed out on making a good score when Ayavuya Myoli sent him back to the hut for 5. Daniel Sincuba was run out for a duck, leaving the Colts on 68/4 in the 13th over when captain, Diego Rosier entered the fray. He lead a calm innings, top scoring with 39 runs to get his side to a comfortable victory.
It will be the SA Rural XI's turn to host a double header on Saturday when they take on USSA at 13:00, followed by the Colts at 18:00.
