Uwe Birkenstock and Edward Moore batted USSA to the final of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Future Cup final which will be played against the Franchise Colts when they beat SA Rural by 10 wickets in Kimberley on Saturday.
An uninspired Rural team could not break the opening partnership of the determined USSA team, chasing down the 117/6 Rural had posted after winning the toss and choosing to bat first.
Birkenstock was the leading run scorer with 64 from 49 while his partner, Moore reached his half century in 52 balls. They made 119 to win.
After winning the toss, Rural's Alvin Dithole shared a second-wicket 50 partnership with Warwick Abrahim to get their side off to a good start after losing Matome Modiba to a run out for 8. Esmund van Wyk was the culprit in breaking the partnership, removing both batsmen for 40 and 25 respectively in the 12th and 14th overs.
Only Lafras Moolman put up a fight, adding 23 runs before he was removed by Sean Nowak.
Rural will play the Franchise Colts in their last match of the tournament at 6pm today, while USSA will meet the Colts in the final on Sunday at 10am at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley.
