THE Members’ Forum of Cricket South Africa held their first meeting since the Annual Meeting in Johannesburg on Friday and gave the Board of Directors the following mandates:


To investigate the Africanisation of South African cricket at all levels


To conduct a review of professional cricket as a matter of urgency. This will involve the appointment of an independent committee to carry out the review and then make recommendations to the Members’ Forum for approval. The whole process will be completed before the start of next season.


The Members’ Forum also congratulated the Gauteng Cricket Board who approved their Memorandum of Incorporation at a meeting on Thursday night.


“This is a massive achievement,” CSA President Chris Nenzani. “We congratulate them on this and wish them all the best going forward. It will have important ramifications for transformation in the province.”


CSA Vice-President Dr. Peter Cyster also praised the GCB. “The success of the bizhub Highveld Lions during this difficult process has been notable and they have become a model franchise as far as transformation is concerned.”
