The bizhub Highveld Lions are thrilled to announce that the naming rights sponsor of the team, Konica Minolta, have opted to renew this sponsorship for the ensuing 2013/14 season.
The past season has been the most successful in the history of the partnership between these two companies and saw the team winning the Ram Slam T20 Trophy, sharing the Momentum One Day Cup trophy and ending as runners up in the Sunfoil Series.
For Chief Executive Officer, Cassim Docrat, Konica Minolta has become like family. “The franchise has seen some trying times and I think it takes a special kind of sponsor to believe in the rebuilding process that the team has undergone. Konica Minolta is a leader in their industry and because our goal is to be the best franchise team in the country, I believe there is a lot of synergy between the two entities. I would like to thank them for their support of the team and the franchise,” Docrat said.
Alan Griffith, Managing Director of Konica Minolta South Africa, said: “With the team winning the way it is now, it makes a lot of marketing sense to have our winning brand, bizhub, associated with a winning team. The task now for this team is to stay at the top.”
The team’s captain, Alviro Petersen, knows the value that there is in a sponsor that wants the team to excel at all levels. “In this fast-paced and ever-changing game, there is no space for complacency. Konica Minolta has been with the team through trying times but they have now seen the rewards that the process has delivered. I very much look forward to working with them in future to take this franchise to new heights,” said Petersen.
