Jele and Paleker promoted to CSA national umpires' panel

TWO of Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) most promising young umpires, Bongani Jele and Allahudien Paleker, have been promoted to the National Panel for the 2013/14 season.

CSA on Wednesday officially released the National, Emerging and Pilot panels.

“Bongani and Allahudien have both made impressive strides during the past couple of seasons,” commented Mike Gajjar, CSA Cricket Operations Manager. “They both stood successfully in the under-19 international series between South Africa and England towards the end of last season and in franchise cricket and the time has come to move them up to the next level.”

“The three newcomers to the Pilot Panel – Lester Leendertz, Ryan Hendricks and Philip Vosloo – have also shown the necessary competencies to move up to the next level.”

Jele and Paleker will both stand in the Momentum eKasi Challenge match on Friday.

National Panel:

Murray Brown, Johan Cloete, Marais Erasmus, Shaun George, Earl Hendrikse, Adrian Holdstock, Ian Howell, Karl Hurter, Bongani Jele, Brian Jerling, Allahudien Paleker, Gerrie Pienaar, Dennis Smith and Brad White.

Emerging Panel:

Rudi Birkenstock, Roderick Ellis, Lourens Engelbrecht, Babalo Gcuma, Stephen Harris,

Bernard Harrison, Clifford Isaacs, Clive Joubert, Bryan Mantle, Jack Morton, Stephen Rex, Faizel Samsoodien, Irvin Van Kerwel, Wessie Westraadt, Laurance Willemse and Jeff Wolhuter.

Pilot Panel:

Ryan Hendricks, Lester Leendertz and Philip Vosloo.

Match Referees:

Tiefie Barnes, Devdas Govindjee, Barry Lambson, Cyril Mitchley and Shahid Wadvalla.
