PERSISTENT RAIN in East London forced the Momentum One-Day Cup match between the Chevrolet Warriors and the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras to be abandoned on Friday evening without a ball being bowled.
Both sides went into the clash after making formidable starts to the season, winning two games out of two on the road but, with the weather proving unbeatable, the contest for early-season bragging rights never got underway.
With the points being shared, the Warriors now have 11 points behind them after three games while the Cobras have 10.
The Cobras now travel back to Cape Town for their first home match of the season, which will see them host the bizhub Highveld Lions at Sahara Park Newlands in a day game on Sunday. The Warriors next match is against the Sunfoil Dolphins at Axxess St. George’s on Wednesday.
