A promising start with the bat by The Unlimited Titans was undone by the weather as their Momentum One-Day Cup clash against the Sunfoil Dolphins was rained out on Sunday.

The Titans had set a good foundation to their chase of 213 for victory, reaching 78 for one in the 14th over when the heavens opened at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead.

Although the rain at one stage relented, it soon returned making any further play impossible.

Captain Henry Davids had provided the early impetus to the Titans innings, hitting 35 off 26 balls before he was dismissed by Craig Alexander, while Jacques Rudolph and Heino Kuhn had both played themselves in before the rain arrived.

Some excellent bowling up front by Ethy Mbhalati and Marchant de Lange had the Dolphins on the back foot after they were inserted by the Titans, and the hosts were never allowed to build momentum on their way to a total of 212 for seven.

With the pitch always offering something to the bowlers, wickets fell at regular intervals until Daryn Smit (47 not out) and Kyle Abbott (45 not out) rescued the Dolphins and ensured they had something to bowl at.

It all amounted to nothing, however, when the game was called off and the two teams were forced to share the points.
