Proteas bat 1st in opening ODI

The Castle Lager Proteas have won the toss and elected to bat in the first One-Day International (ODI) against Pakistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. The Proteas welcome back Graeme Smith, who last played an ODI for South Africa in March. Leg-spinner, Imran Tahir, also makes a return to the ODI setup after a two year absence.

 

Robin Peterson is suffering from a viral illness and was not considered for selection.

 

South Africa XI: AB de Villiers (WK/Cpt), Graeme Smith, Colin Ingram, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, David Miller, Ryan McLaren, Wayne Parnell, Morne Morkel, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Imran Tahir.
