University of Zululand won the only completed match at the USSA B Week on Thursday, as they beat North West University (Mafikeng) by three runs in a low-scoring thriller.

While the other four matches were abandoned when a storm rolled in during the second innings, the short nature of the first Section C game allowed it to be wrapped up before the weather arrived.

University of Zululand were bowled out for 69 in 20 overs after being inserted by North West University (Mafikeng), but duly defended it as N Gumede took 5 for 3 to skittle their opponents for 66.

Although there were no other results on day four, University of Limpopo (Turfloop)’s T Malatji put in a noteworthy performance with the ball as he took 7 for 21 to bowl Mangosuthu University out for 73.

University of Limpopo (Turfloop)’s reply was interrupted in the 12th over with the score on 45 for two.
