CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) expresses its sadness at the passing of Mr. Graham Mackay, chairman of SAB Miller, in England on Wednesday, 18 December 2013 at the age of 64 after a long illness.

“It is really sad to learn of the demise of Graham Mackay at a time when we are celebrating an association of 20 years with SAB Miller through their famous Castle Lager brand,” commented CSA Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat.

“Mr. Mackay as the Executive Chairman of SAB Miller’s beer division in South Africa was instrumental in supporting our world-class Test team on their re-entry into international cricket in 1992.

To celebrate the 20-year anniversary, the Proteas played in a commemorative jersey on Day 1 of the Sunfoil Test against India yesterday.

“It has been a special and happy relationship and I acknowledge Mr. Mackay for laying this foundation. He was a true sportsman in the true sense of the word.

“On behalf of the CSA family I extend our sympathies to his wife, his six sons and to his colleagues and friends. Cricket in South Africa will miss him dearly.”
