NASHUA MOBILE Cape Cobras captain Justin Ontong appreciates that his international players will need a break at some stage of the RAM SLAM T20 competition, but says that won’t be happening this week.

The Cobras are in action on Thursday evening against The Unlimited Titans at SuperSport Park and then again on Saturday against the Chevrolet Warriors, and Ontong confirmed that Graeme Smith, JP Duminy, Hashim Amla, Robin Peterson and Rory Kleinveldt will all play in both matches.

“We’re obviously going to manage it because they have an important series against Australia coming up,” said Ontong. “They’re going to need a bit of a mental break so we’ll look and see where we can accommodate that - maybe give them one or two games (off).

“It’s always great to have those guys around because of their experience, but in saying that I think it’s important that the other guys take responsibility as well because they won’t be performing every game for us. If we want to go far in this competition we have to do it as a team.”

Off-spinner Dane Piedt will be given the opportunity to play for the amateur side over the weekend given that Peterson and Duminy are likely to perform spin duties for the Cobras, and so Stiaan van Zyl will come into the squad as the only change from Sunday’s tournament opener.

The Titans will also employ a similar team to the one they fielded on Sunday - when they went down by eight runs to the Sunfoil Dolphins - with Morne Morkel only set to return next week.

Although the Cobras look strong on paper, Titans captain Henry Davids feels that his side are a good match for them.

“All of them are internationals bar one or two, but so are we - I think there are only three guys in our team who haven’t played international cricket so it’s very evenly spread at the moment,” said Davids. “It’s about who does the basics the best on the day - that’s what T20 cricket is about.”
