Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Wednesday announced that the fifth annual Coca-Cola® T20 Schools Challenge finals weekend due to take place from Friday, 14 March, to Sunday, 15 March, has been postponed due to waterlogged fields in Pretoria.
An inspection of the grounds this morning revealed that the respective grounds staff would not have enough time to prepare the fields that have become flooded after almost a full week of incessant rain, in time for the first matches on Friday. After consulting with the venue managers, sponsor and participating schools, it was decided that the finals weekend will be postponed to a date that will be announced in due course.
The Schools T20 Challenge is the culmination of six months of intense competition between more than 650 schools with a grand prize of R110 000 and this season’s Championship bragging rights.
The schools participating in the finals weekend are: Grey College Bloemfontein (Chevrolet Knights), St Stithian’s College (bizhub Highveld Lions), Westville Boys’ High School (Sunfoil Dolphins), Hoërskool Waterkloof (The Unlimited Titans), Kingswood College (Chevrolet Warriors) and Wynberg Boys’ High (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras).
