CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) today congratulated Pretoria University (Tuks) on its achievement of completing a hat trick of wins in the Momentum National Club Championships.
They made it three wins in a row in the 2014 edition Final at SuperSport Park on Monday when they beat University of Port Elizabeth by a comfortable 94 runs. They were unbeaten throughout the competition, winning all their pool matches as well, and produced the Player of the Tournament in South Africa under-19 captain, Aiden Markram.
“Winning three titles in a row against the cream of South Africa’s club teams is an outstanding achievement,” commented CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat. “They have shown true championship credentials and underlines the strong feeder system bringing through a new crop of youngsters each year into the Northerns semi-professional and The Unlimited Titans Franchise teams.
“Aiden Markram and his SA under-19 team mate, Corben Bosch, are good examples of this while another of their players, Graeme van Buuren, has made impressive strides at Franchise level.
“I would like to praise the high quality of cricket produced and congratulate all the participating clubs who are champions in their own right in their respective provinces. Club cricket is a vital component of our development pipeline and is in a healthy state.
“Once again our thanks go to Momentum for their sponsorship of this important tournament and to Northerns for running the event so efficiently. This now effectively draws the curtain on our playing season.”
