JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has taken the decision to move the upcoming third T20 International fixture between the Proteas Women and Pakistan Women that was scheduled to be held at the Kimberly Oval, following an independent assessment which confirmed that the facility does not meet the required international norms and standards for match readiness.
Comprehensive inspections conducted over the past month identified several critical deficiencies related to the playing surface, outfield, practice facilities and overall compliance. These shortcomings present potential risks and could compromise the integrity of play.
“The safety of players, match officials, and spectators is our top priority,” said Pholetsi Moseki, CEO of CSA.
“While the decision to cancel an international fixture is never taken lightly, the findings of the assessment left us with no alternative. We cannot proceed with a match at a venue where the conditions may pose a threat to player safety or fail to meet international cricket requirements.”
CSA is engaging closely with the venue management to address the identified issues and ensure a clear plan for remedial action. Once all compliance measures have been satisfactorily met and verified, the venue may be reconsidered for future fixtures.
The affected match will now be hosted at Willowmoore Park Cricket Stadium in Benoni on Monday, 16 February 2026 at 18h00. Details regarding ticket refunds will be announced in due course.
CSA apologises for the inconvenience caused and appreciates the understanding and support of fans, partners, and stakeholders as we uphold the standards expected of international cricket.
